Back lighting letters is a simple way to make a sign stand out from the rest and achieving a professional result is simple with the correct application of LED.

SIDE EMITTING LED RIBBON

In this product the LED is mounted to one edge of the PCB ribbon and shines to the side (rather than directly up). This allows the ribbon to be mounted following the curve of the letter or shape that is being illuminated. NOTE: Bending PCB (the copper backing of LED ribbons) on a radius that is too tight will compromise the electrical connection of the diodes resulting in failed LED ribbon.

Typically there is only a small gap between the wall and the letter. Setting the ribbon back inside the letter diffuses the point source of the LED producing a uniform glow of light.
